Cells in our body reside mostly within the confined environment of tissues, having complex connections with the neighboring cells and the extracellular matrices. Cell-cell pulling forces and cell-matrix traction forces play as a mode of information transfer for realizing these connections into biochemical events. Further, the physical and chemical nature of the micro-confinements surrounding the cells, strongly influence their phenotypes and more importantly their behavior as part of a collective. The project will consist in the biophysical analysis of the mechanism controlling collective migration in physiologically relevant 3-dimensional cell cultures.

Your skills and qualifications:

A good academic background in physics, biophysics, bioengineering or related disciplines. Sound knowledge of cell biology will be appreciated. Candidates should have a positive attitude towards working in an interdisciplinary environment that this institute offers.
