Herbert Steinbeisser M.D. Fellowships
Description:
In memory of Professor Dr. Herbert Steinbeisser, the DFG Collaborative Research Center (SFB1324) on “Mechanisms and Functions of Wnt Signaling” announces fellowships to support medical students during experimental research projects that comprise part of their M.D. thesis.

Herbert Steinbeisser (1958-2014) was a professor for developmental genetics at the Institute for Human Genetics at Heidelberg University medical school. He served as speaker for the DFG-research group on Wnt signaling for many years and was instrumental in establishing the SFB1324. Herbert Steinbeisser was a wonderful colleague and an outstanding scientist, who made important contributions to understand Wnt signaling pathways. He was an engaged teacher and mentor for young scientists. To remember his contributions, the SFB1324 will award M.D. fellowships to support work on Wnt signaling projects within SFB1324 research groups.

Research within the SFB1324 is focused on mechanisms and functions of Wnt signaling in development, differentiation and tumorigenesis. More information about SFB1324 projects can be found at http://www.sfb1324.de. The fellowship will be granted for a max. of 12 months. The monthly stipend is 800 Euros. Applications can be submitted twice annually, by December 15th and June 15th.

The application should also include a cover letter describing the motivation behind the project, a letter of acceptance from a principal investigator within the SFB1324 and a CV, including a study transcript.

Complete applications should be send as a single PDF to SFB1324 [ aT ] uni-heidelberg.de.
