B: Dynamics of Cell Architecture

Research Area B aims at integration of molecular and biophysical parameters of this cellular architecture into a picture with high spatial and temporal resolution.
A particular focus is cell division and adhesion, the underlying principles of which are elucidated by comparative studies in different key model systems. An innovative combination of approaches from molecular cell biology, biophysics, micro- and nanotechnology, as well as modeling and simulation, is employed to address the dynamics of cell architecture in a quantitative and comprehensive fashion. This opens completely new perspectives for biomedical applications, including screens to target cancer, implant technology and tissue engineering.
