Behavioural neuroscience: Taking axonal delivery of oxytocin
Posted March 20 2012
The group of a Cellnetwork member Dr. Valery Grinevich together with the group of Dr. Ron Stoop from the University of Lausanne demonstrated a novel pathway of neuropeptide actions in the brain

Employing viral and optogenetic means, the authors showed that hypothalamic neurons, expressing neuropeptide oxytocin, are capable to release oxytocin from axons in "addressed" brain regions, profoundly modulating brain-region associated behaviors.
