Highly Cited Researchers: Heidelberg Germany’s Most Successful University

Ten scientists from Heidelberg University, among them four CellNetworks members, appear in the list of “Highly Cited Researchers”, an international evaluation that names scientists, whose publications in the natural and social sciences as well as medicine were cited most worldwide. Heidelberg thus ranks two in Germany after the Max-Planck Society and is the most successful university in the country.

According to Rector Prof. Dr. Bernhard Eitel, this is a clear sign that the research conducted in Heidelberg is of excellent quality. Among the most cited scientists are the CellNetworks members Prof. Dr. Ralf Bartenschlager (microbiology), Prof. Dr. Andreas Meyer-Lindenberg (neuro and behavioral sciences), Dr. Volker Lohmann (microbiology) and Prof. Dr. Karin Schumacher (developmental biology). Furthermore included in the list are Prof. Dr. A. Stephen K. Hashmi (chemistry), Prof. Dr. Hugo A. Katus (medicine), Prof. Dr. Volker Springel (astronomy), Prof. Dr. Andreas von Deimling (neuro and behavioral sciences), Stephanie Kallis (microbiology) and Prof. Dr. Marcella Rietschel (psychiatry/psychology).
